Kyle was born and raised in Minnesota, spending the latter half of his childhood in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Surrounded by natural beauty, he took to photography and watercolor painting. The portfolio he built gained him acceptance to art school where he excelled in cinematography in the film program. Through his early roles in the grip and electric departments, Kyle became obsessed with light and the tools used to manipulate it. He has a keen eye for marrying light with composition and camera movement while anchoring these things to character and story.
